Phenneger & Associates, Inc. has become the Northwest's recognized leader in the design, implementation, and administration of Employee Stock Ownership Plans. Since 1981, P&A has designed and implemented successful ESOPs throughout the Northwest and other parts of the United States. Transactions have included companies ranging in size from 15 employees to 1,200 employees with revenues in excess of $300,000,000. In these transactions, P&A was responsible for the design, implementation and placement of ESOP financing.
P&A's management of the buyout process includes preliminary analysis, interim negotiations between management and unions (if required), and preparation of comprehensive financial memorandums for the acquisition of financing for the transaction. Ongoing employee communications and final implementation and administration of the ESOP are also included in the buyout process.

Richard E. Phenneger
Richard Phenneger is the founder and President of Phenneger & Associates, Inc (P&A), a unique Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) consulting firm that specializes in design, finance, implementation and administration of highly leveraged ESOPs and the design of employee communications programs. Richard serves clients throughout the United States.
In addition to his work with clients, Richard has served as a board member of the National Center for Employee Ownership and AVMARK (which was one of the aviation industry's leading consulting firms in the 1980s). Richard was also a charter member of the State of Washington's Employee Ownership Advisory Panel. He has served as a member of the Board of Directors of The Post Company (which publishes the Idaho Post Register) and is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Smith Berger Marine. He has been a member of the National Center for Employee Ownership and The ESOP Association. He is a member of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho Rotary Club and was also a member of Spokane, Washington's Rotary Club 21. In June of 2010 he was appointed as the Independent Trustee for the Lumber Traders, Inc. ESOP Trust. He is the Northwest Regional Director of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity and is a Elder of the Post Falls, Idaho Community Presbyterian Church. Over the past 19 years he has conducted hundreds of lectures on designing, financing, implementing and administering leveraged ESOPs.
In 1958 Richard graduated from the University of Washington as a Destinguished Military Graduate with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Following a short period as a Preliminary Design Engineer at Boeing, he entered the United States Air Force and service as a KC-135 Jet Tanker Pilot during the Vietnam War. In 1966 he joined Pan American World Airways. During the 1970s and early 1980s, Richard served as the President and chief negotiator for the Pan American World Airways Flight Engineers Union. While serving as a labor leader he led Pan Am's four major labor unions in adopting the Pan Am ESOP (the first collectively bargained ESOP in the Nation in which a wage reduction was included). Richard was captain Qualified on the Boeing 707, 737, 747 and the Airbus A300. In the 1980's he was involved in the design and implementation of some of the Nation's other most noted ESOPs: PSA, Western Airlines, ABF Trucking, Transcon and PIE Nationwide. In 1991 Richard retired from Pan Am as an Airbus A300 Captain.
Seen as an advocate of productivity and enterprise rather than an apologist for either labor or management, Richard Phenneger has earned the respect and trust of both groups.
